| Yep, here's granddaddy telling you a story that in the past everything was better:
Some twenty years ago the clubcircuit in Europe was very lively and you could see a great band play every weekend for almost nothing. Most bands toured Europe for a month or more and they played little venues with little but mostly enthusiatic crowds. It where the days of hard-corepunk, garagepunk, psychobilly and the beginning of the grunge-hype.
I even saw Nirvana open up for the now unknown, but ever mighty TAD. They played a little club in Cologne and there were only a handfull of people that payed the tickets. But they rocked anyway, at least TAD did!
At that time I played in several bands that where lucky to do numerous support gigs for touring bands, but see my other website for more info and boring facts on that topic.
I started writing and taking photos for a german magazine called Westzeit and interviewed bands like Dead Moon, Cramps, Soundgarden, Bad Religion, Fugazi. Actually I'm still working for this great magazine.
Nowadays I hardly take pictures at concerts. It's no fun anymore. Bands are only doing a couple of shows in europe, in big halls with barries, lots of security. If you are not working for a big magazine, you can't get a photopass. And when you finally get a photopass, you are only allowed to take photos during one song.
A couple of times a year I'm asked to do some series on festivals and concerts, wich I enjoy, because it means backstagepasses, free drinks and all expenses payed!
Hell, I'm still to cheap for this business!!!!
