| I started photography the hard way; shooting punkconcerts! I was a 16 year old kid, standing in front of the stage with an old viewfinder camera shooting some drunk punks on stage that are now considered to be legends or icons of R'n'R. It got serious when I got my first 'real' camera and learned to develop my own films is a small dark room above the punkclub where I worked in the weekends as a DJ and bartender. I also started at Art School, but the poor lit punkrockshows were the place that I really learned the technique of photographing and pushing films in the dark room. I never used a flash and if you have only a couple of antique stagelights to work with, you have to improvise and learn the hard way. Tons of film went straight in the trashcan, underexposed, blurred or just useless... Im 40+ now, but you can still find me in the pit sometimes, ducking stagedivers and getting kicked. I always get that adrenaline rush when a band goes nuts on stage and the crowd goes wild. I have to catch that on film or nowadays on some boring digital flashcard... At least I won't have to throw away tons of money on wasted film!
