A landmark for serveral generations of fans of undergroundrock is comming to an end. Later this summer CBGB's will be closed. The neighbourhood is slowly been taken by yuppies. And they don't want this "filthy old punkrock hole" in their backyard.
A sad development, because CBGB's is as important to american culture as is the Statue of Lincoln or the Gugenheimmuseum.
CBGB's was the birthplace of punkrock, bands like the Ramones, Deadboys, Blondie, Talking Heads, Sonic Youth, to name af few got a change here to build a following. And soon it will be lost for ever... It's true, it really is a filthy hole, but a filthy hole with lots of style and atmosphere you will not find somewere else...
We were lucky enough to get tickets for one of our favorite bands that also grew up in here, Ignite, and they gave it all and more...
GABBA GABBA HEY!!!!
