"We picked up Dracula in Memphis,
It was just about the break of day..."

New York is a hell of a town for live music!
Seeing John Cale doing a free gig in a recordstore was a dream come true.
Outside the rain was cleaning the streets, inside his voice was cleaning my soul.
I know it reads like bad proza, but it was true. This man is one of my all time heroes!
He was in one of the most influencial bands of all time: The Velvet Underground. And he was the producer of the debut albums from two of my favorite bands: The Stooges and The Modern Lovers.
His solo work is of a beauty that only a few can match.
He even wrote the best song Jeff Buckley ever performed: Halleluja.
So what could be a better ending of a great holliday?
2006 update:
One of the photo's from this session ended up on a DVD cover of a BBC-documentary about John cale! |
