"and I pray, that someday it may raise me, above these badlands."

In northwestern New Mexico, south of Farmington, an extraordinair landscape can be found. The soil is not as colourfull as the Rimrocks of Grand Staircase Escalante, but the shapes and landscape is of a complete different beauty.
The area is very remote and it hardly sees any visitors, although it is hardly an hour drive from Farmington.
From Farmington take the US 371 south and after 36 miles turn left at the crossing with country road 7290. This is a good passable gravel road. After 2 miles park the car and explore these wonderfull badlands on foot.
Just don't forget to take plenty of water, because it will get scorching hot during the day! |
